“There has been much debate about the implementation of the European unitary patent (PU) system, scheduled to start in late 2022 or early 2023. The PU will allow holders to obtain a standard protection of their patents in the 25 member States of the EU signatories to the PU, from the submission of a single application to the European Patent Office (EPO).”
